You can buy a custom domain name for a course website directly from the LessonFlyer admin panel.
This is the public website address or URL that students will visit to learn about and register for your course.
Select your course from the My Courses screen and then click the Domain Name link from either of the two spots pointed out in the screenshot below. Both of these links take you to the same screen.
On the Domain Name screen choose the option: Buy a new domain name.
On the Find a Domain screen you can search for available domains or choose from a list of suggestions based on your course's name.
Tip: Don't limit your searches to just .com, .org and .net. There are a lot of great domains still available if you try some of the new extensions. For example, the following extensions are all great for online courses: .academy, .coach, .college, .education, .school, .training, .university, .video.
Tip: Shorter domain names are easier to remember and easier to type. You'll find that a lot of the suggested domain names are too long and you can usually do better by spending some time and searching for a shorter one that you really like.
For this example (see screenshot below) we used the search box to find a shorter domain we liked with the .training extension.
The traditional extensions .com, .net, .org have the lowest price. They start at $18 per year at the time of this writing. Prices vary and are typically higher for the newer extensions. Check our full price list of domain name extensions (TLDs) for up to date pricing.
When you find a domain you like click the Register Now button.
Please note: Domain registrations are final. We pass the fees along to our technology provider (Amazon Web Services) and they don't offer refunds or exchanges. So please double check for mistakes or typos before confirming your registration.
After your domain registration is confirmed it can take anywhere from 15 minutes an hour for the setup process to complete. Grab coffee, then return to the Domain Name screen and click the Check for Updates button to see the current status.
When your domain is fully configured you'll see the "All set" message (shown below).
After that your course website is live on your new domain and viewable by anyone on the internet. Cheers!
