How to customize the links on your website navigation bar

You can customize the text and display order of the links on your course website's main naviation bar. Some navigation links can be removed and you're also allowed to create one (optional) link to an external website.

Select your course on the My Courses screen.

Navigate to the Website Editor for your course.

When the Website Editor loads click the Navigation icon on the top menu bar to open the Website Navigation menu.

Website Editor: Website Navigation icon.

You can edit the navigation links by clicking in the fields and making changes. Changes are automatically applied when you click outside of the field.

Please note: You can rename your links but they will still link to the same page. For example, the Teacher Bios link always link to the teacher bios page. So if you're going to rename it choose something that means roughtly the same thing like Instructors. To avoid confusion, try not to name it something that doesn't match the content on the page.

In the example screenshot below we changed the Teachers Bios link to Instructors.

You can also drag/drop to reorder your navigation links using the grab icons on the left of each field. Changes are automatically applied.

In the example screenshot below we moved the FAQ link in front of the Instructors link.

Navigation links with a toggle switch on the right can be disabled (removed) from the nav bar by toggling the switch OFF. This allows you to effectively turn a page off so there's no way for a visitor to get to it.

In the example screenshot below we disabled the FAQ link so it no longer appears on the nav bar.

You can also add one custom nav item that links to an external website.

In the example screenshot below we created a custom nav item called Blog that links an external site.

You may have noticed the View Course link isn't showing in the navigation bar. This is because some nav items only show when a student is signed-in and vice versa.

The Buy Course and Sign-In links only show when a student is NOT signed-in.

The View Course link only shows when a student IS signed-in.

To avoid confusion we added tooltips for these links (see screenshot below).
